7-night Alaska Cruise From Seattle (Roundtrip) Explorer of the Seas Reviews

Alaska is one of the about scenic natural wonders I've experienced. Sailing roundtrip from Seattle on the seven Day Alaskan Explorer prowl with Holland America Line on the beautiful Eurodam was the best option for my showtime Alaska cruise. As I cascade over the dozens of photos I am and so moved by the majesty of our 49th state.
We flew to Seattle ane day early to ensure we arrived on fourth dimension and bask the city. We got to check out the famous Pikes Place Market and afterwards enjoyed dinner on the pier at 1 of Seattle'southward oldest restaurants, Ivar's Acres of Clams.
Twenty-four hours 1: Commence Sail From Seattle
Boarding the Eurodam was impressive, honestly I call up information technology was the smoothest and quickest embarkation I have experienced out of the concluding ten cruises I have been on.
Our luggage arrived promptly subsequently we boarded, our balcony cabin was roomy and offered stunning views. I highly recommend booking a balcony if information technology's in the upkeep, especially when in that location is such unique scenery and temperature variance. So user-friendly to step out and take photos, experience the cold weather condition for a bit and step right back in to our warm and cozy stateroom. The views constantly change so it's like having a different cute wall mural every few hours.

Twenty-four hour period ii: Sea Day
Onboard the ship there are a variety of activities to participate in. The netherlands America has exclusively collaborated with America's Examination Kitchen to provide live onboard cooking demonstrations and workshops and nosotros decided to pop in for a few lessons.
Day 3: Juneau
The starting time port we visited was Juneau. I was told well-nigh and prepared for the likely change in the weather and therefore for the excursion plans so nosotros booked 2, one early upon arrival and a unlike one in the evening. I take to admit even though I was aware the weather in Juneau is often quite rainy and volatile, at beginning I was still a chip disappointed nosotros had to miss the helicopter bout to the top of a glacier and dog sled army camp due to rain and fog. I was actually looking forward to that one, but at present it gives me a reason to keep some other Alaskan cruise! Nosotros were able to walk effectually boondocks as the pelting was intermittent and light and it was dainty to see the actual town, scan the many shops and purchase some souvenirs.
Our evening whale watching tour was a go even though it was still quite gray and foggy. The tour came with lovely titbit spread, hot and cold beverages and lots of opportunities of guaranteed whale sightings.
This was the showtime fourth dimension I learned how to spot whales; look for the spray outset, spouts and blows are distinctive to each species and can look like puffs of smoke on the horizon. When viewing Humpbacks, scout for the blow, then keep watching and look for dorsal fins equally they dive a couple times before making the deep dive displaying their powerful tail "flukes" that propel them deeper through the water. The shape and size of flukes are also different for every species. It took me a while to learn only so heady when I finally got the hang of it!

Day four: Glacier Bay
Sailing slowly all day around Glacier Bay was certainly ane of the master highlights of this cruise. Information technology was quite cold and as I mentioned we institute information technology so convenient to package upwardly, step out onto our balcony to view the sights, and have photos so just pace dorsum into warmth. While outside a couple times, we heard deep thunder sounds but the conditions wasn't rainy. We thought peradventure bad weather condition was imminent and then I realized that wasn't thunder at all! I had forgotten I heard people depict the sound of glaciers calving (breaking off) is just like thunder! I felt pretty darn foolish forgetting that. I never really got to run into them calving but certainly heard information technology several times. Now you know!
Our cabin was on deck 5 forward and I didn't realize they opened up doors to the outside on this deck allowing guests to gather on the bow to view the cute scenery and have photos as well. Staff members were there greeting passengers and handing out hot chocolate and later on steaming Dutch pea soup which is a Holland America line tradition. It was rather chilly in the halls that mean solar day, merely a fun sociable experience.
After this night we dined with some other guests onboard and experienced the specialty Asian restaurant Tamarind. I tried several dishes, among them were the Wasabi crusted beef tenderloin and Jewels of the Sea. Some of the best nutrient and service I've experienced, merely delicious!
Solar day 5: Sitka
Other than a few small luxury ships, Holland America is the but line that stops in Sitka and am so happy we got to experience this port! Nosotros took an early morning time excursion in Sitka Sound which started out foggy, nearly fifty-fifty a bit eerie, in the quite remoteness.
Once that fog cleared we were blest with such clear bluish skies and a plethora of otters and whale sightings. So much prettier in the sunshine and much better whale photos!

And so we transferred dorsum onto a tour bus and headed to the Fortress of the Behave rescue sanctuary for up close views of blackness and brown bears!

Later this night I had the pleasure and honor to see an unexpected guest, President of Holland America Line Orlando Ashford!
Twenty-four hours 6: Ketchikan
Another sunny day in a charming Alaskan town. After early on morn skies cleared, we took a walk around the quaint port urban center and we stopped to take in the pop Lumberjack Bear witness. Later on we grabbed a quick dejeuner of famous Alaskan Rex and snow crab at a nearby local pub and eating place.
Day 7: Victoria
We arrived a bit late into Victoria so nosotros chose to walk effectually near the ship enjoyed dinner at a restaurant on the pier. Afterward I wanted to see the famous Fairmont Empress hotel and then we stopped in for a cocktail and on the way got to see the beautiful Parliament Building lit upwards at night! We had an Exclusive Signature Empress 1908 lavender gin cocktail and friendly bartender.
In one case back on the ship, nosotros enjoyed one terminal night at our favorite evening haunt, BB Male monarch's Blues Club. That club had the best music and band in our opinion.
I have to say this cruise and ship was such a great experience and fun all around. I highly recommend cruising on the Alaskan Explorer cruise with Holland America, you'll enjoy first-class itineraries, excursions, on-board service and food. Y'all can't get incorrect!
